Xavier takes over Argibat in 2026

In 2026, a beautiful story of passion and succession takes shape around the raw clay of Wanlin.

It all began with a meeting between Jean-Jacques, founder of Argibat, and Xavier Cartuyvels, artisan specialised in ecological renovation and founder of Cartdesign. Xavier had discovered Argibat's clay plasters a few years earlier and had immediately fallen in love with them — their natural texture, their humidity regulation, their warm appearance: everything aligned with his vision of respectful renovation.

During their first meeting, what was supposed to be a simple technical discussion turned into a long, passionate conversation about clay, natural materials, and the future of ecological renovation in Belgium. Jean-Jacques quickly understood that Xavier shared not only his love of the material, but also his conviction that clay deserves a much greater place in modern construction.

A handover in continuity

With his years of experience applying natural plasters and his in-depth knowledge of Argibat products, Xavier is for Jean-Jacques the ideal successor. "I wanted the company to be taken over by someone who truly loves clay, not just someone who wants to sell a product," says Jean-Jacques. "In Xavier, I found that person."

Xavier, for his part, sees in this acquisition a unique opportunity to develop a holistic approach to ecological renovation: "The clay from Wanlin is an exceptional local treasure. Being able to continue supplying it to professionals, while training new applicators — that is exactly what I want to do."

Continuity for professionals

Rest assured: the full Argibat range remains available. EasyClay, Argiline, Clay White Finish, Argibase — all products continue to be supplied to renovation and finishing professionals throughout Belgium.

Xavier also intends to strengthen the network of certified applicators and offer training to craftspeople wishing to specialise in clay plaster systems.
